Spring meeting of coordinators in Zielona Góra
Scientific Conference Measurement Systems in Research and in Industry
Autumn Coordinator’s Meeting at the Silesian University of Technology
On May 16-17, a working meeting of CUCEE network coordinators was held at the University of Zielona Góra. The meeting program included a discussion on current issues related to the operation of the network and plans to intensify this activity in the coming period. It was proposed, among others: activities aimed at involving more faculties at individual universities in cooperation, supporting new forms of exchange of students and employees, including, among others, by participating in the Blended Intensive Program (Erasmus+). The invitation to cooperate within the network of two additional universities was discussed.
The meeting participants observed a minute of silence in memory of the Prof. Krzysztof Krykowski - the first coordinator from Silesian University of Technology, who died in April 2024.
The working meeting of coordinators was opened by prof. Justyna Patalas-Maliszewska, Vice-Rector for Cooperation with the Economy of University Zielona Góra

Dr. Andrzej Czajkowski and Dr. Piotr Powroźnik from Universytet Zielonogórski visited the THM. In addition to our CUCEE coordinator Prof. Rafael Greszczynski from Department WI, discussions were held with colleagues from other departments EI - Prof. Ulrich Birkel and Prof. Thomas Stetz, MNI - Prof. Frank Kammer and IEM - Prof. Sergej Kovalev. In addition to a guest lecture (Powroźnik) in the EI department and a VR workshop (Czajkowski) in the WI department and many laboratory visits and campus tours in Friedberg and Giessen, many different topics were discussed, including:
There was also some time for culture in the form of a guided tour of Büdingen.
Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology was the venue for this year's autumn meeting of the CUCEE network coordinators which took place in October 29-30, 2024. Representatives of 7 partner universities from Germany, Estonia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Czech Republic and Poland participated in the meeting. The most important goals of the meeting were: wrapping up of the REMAKER project, handling double diploma to two Bachelor students and extending the network by a new partner.
One of the most important forms of educational activity of the CUCEE network are integrated studies in electrical engineering conducted jointly with THM University of Applied Sciences in Germany. During the meeting, in the presence of the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education of SUT, prof. Anna Chrobok and the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering SUT, prof. Marian Kampik, the diplomas were presented to two graduates: Mr. Dawid Klimek and Mr. Kacper Sadowski. The THM diplomas were presented by the coordinator from THM, prof. Rafael Greszczynski.
Three of CUCEE partner universities implemented during recent 3 years Erasmus+ project with acronym REMAKER: „Retraining of Fossil Fuel Mining Area Workforce for Modern Industry”. The project was coordinated by prof. Anton Rassõlkin from TalTech. The most important project outcome was to develop, on the basis of international cooperation, a set of modular retraining courses combining theory, practical application of knowledge and self-assessment in area of electrical drives, power electronics, automation and diagnosis of electrical machines. The meeting in Gliwice was devoted to summarize the project activities, prepare the final report, including work distribution and review the project outcomes and exploitation plan.
Another important event that took place during the meeting at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, SUT, was the inclusion of a new partner university in the CUCEE Network. The new partner is the West Bohemia University in Pilsen, Czech Republic. The university has been cooperating for many years with CUCEE partner universities, including the TalTech and SUT, and recently it was a partner in the abovementioned REMAKER project. The CUCEE Coordinator at SUT, prof. Mariusz Stępień, presented commemorative certificates to the representatives of the new partner university: to prof. Roman Pechanek – new CUCEE Coordinator of CUCEE at UWB and to Dr. Lukas Veg.
Two additional activities took place during the CUCEE meeting. The Coordinators participated to the Jubilee Seminar devoted to commemoration of 90 anniversary of Profesorship position of Prof. Stanisław Fryze, one of founders of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, SUT and previously Professor at the Lviv Polytechnic University. The second activity was integration trip to the Historic Silver Mine in Tarnowskie Góry. This unique technical facility is inscribed to the UNESCO list. Of course, during the meeting regular working sessions, devoted to exchange of staff and students, new projects, initiative of online lectures and many others, took also place.
